Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew "Andy" Kakas, 84, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 521 Plum St., Fairport Harbor.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mulqueeny-Spear Funeral Home, 312 Eagle St., Fairport Harbor.
Mr. Kakas passed away March 2, 2013, at St. John Medical Center in Westlake.
An eight-year resident of Sheffield Village and a former resident of Fairport Harbor, Andrew was born July 16, 1928, in Fairport Harbor.
Andy retired from the former Uniroyal Corp. in Painesville as a boiler operator and had co-owned the PAK Concrete Co. for many years.
Andy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Avon Lake, Fairport Harbor Port Authority, Fairport Harbor Mardi Gras Committee, BPOE 549 in Painesville and Painesville Jay-Cee's. He enjoyed golfing, playing pinochle and bingo, bowling and special gambling trips.
Survivors are his wife, Judith A. (Waschura) Kakas, whom he married Nov. 3, 1979; children, Sheryn (Mark) Rusnak of Painesville, Tim Kakas of Perry Township, Amy (Marvin) Brewster of Perry and Kathy (Doug) Makcen of Perry; stepchildren, Mark Laird of Pennsylvania, Valorie Laird of Elyria, Michael (Anita) Laird of Elyria and Larry (Dr. Jennifer Snyder) Laird of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Mark and Doug Rusnak and Beth (Mike) O'Hair, Brad and Adam Brewster, Jordan, Parker and Matthew Laird; and great-granddaughter, Madison Rusnak.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.

So sorry about Andy's passing. He will always be remembered as a fun golfing partner who when I setup for my putt he would always say, "just one time"! He will be missed.

Tim, I'm in Florida for the winter, but regularly check the obituaries of our home town. Sorry to have read about your Dad's passing..he always wanted you to be an accordian player which we both worked on for several years. You were his pride and joy in my eye. We will all miss him , he was a good man in many ways.
