Sabol, Andrew*  
Andrew Sabol, 91, of Eastlake, passed away February 22, 2015. He was born in Junedale, Pa., November 7, 1923, to the late John and Mary Sabol. After his mother passed away he was proudly raised by his step-mother Anna Sabol. Andrew was a proud World War II Veteran who served in the Pacific Theater. He retired from TRW after 30 years of employment. He was a proud and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be greatly missed by many. Andrew is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; his children, Mary Margaret Denholm, Andrew (Pat), Michael, Steven, George and Suzette (Ronald) Majewski; his nine grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Raymond (Ethelda), Irene (Bill) and Anna; and his sister-in-law, Jean. He was preceded in death by his brother, John; his sister, Margaret (John); and brother-in-law, Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake. Burial at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens will be private.

Schmidt, Richard R.*  
Richard R. Schmidt, age 89, of Mayfield Village, passed away Feb. 23, 2015. He was the beloved husband for 56 years of Barbara B. (nee Bullock); loving father of Elizabeth "Beth" Stickley (husband Timothy) of Mayfield Village, Susan Thomson (husband John) of Wisconsin and the late Daniel (wife Dian Brandenburg); devoted grandfather of William Schmidt, Chelsea, Katelyn and Maggie Stickley and Erin Thomson; cherished brother of Doris Fousek of Wickliffe and the late Eugenia Baku; dear uncle to Linda Fousek. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force Veteran. Richard had been a resident of Mayfield Village since 1959, previously residing in Mentor-on-the-Lake. Richard graduated from Glenville High School and then worked sales in the retail industry. He had been a member of Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church for over 28 years including time spent as a volunteer trustee during church construction. Richard loved to volunteer his time with many organizations, including The North Chagrin Nature Center, Meals on Wheels and Local Wood Carvers in Highland Heights. He loved to garden, take fishing trips to Canada, carve wood, work jigsaw puzzles and travel. Richard's family is what gave him the most enjoyment in life as he was a family man. He will be remembered most for his quiet faith and as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Richard's memory to Cleveland Metro Parks, North Chagrin Reservation, 3037 SOM Center Rd, Willoughby Hills, OH 44094 or Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church, 34201 Eddy Rd., Willoughby Hills, OH 44094. A Celebration of Life Service in memory of Richard will be on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Richard at the church Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Shaw, Richard Nelson "Dick"*  
Richard "Dick" Nelson Shaw passed away peacefully on February 19, 2015, at Hospice House in Cleveland at the grand age of 96 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 21, 1918, in Niagara Falls, New York to Edward and Grace Shaw, and was one of three children. In September, 1941, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Greenville Army Airfield in Greenville, Mississippi where he met and married the love of his life, Mickey. He served as a Warrant Officer in Photo Intelligence, 9th Photo Tech, 20th Air Force during World War II from 1941-1946 and was stationed on Guam for two years. After serving in the Army, Mr. Shaw worked in sales for various companies, the majority of his sales career being with Reynolds Metals Co., managing a three state area. In 1974 he and his wife Mickey established Shaw Hardware on Lost Nation Rd in Willoughby, Ohio, serving the home handyman community until the store sold in 1983. Mr. Shaw was an active member of Willoughby Kiwanis, Willoughby VFW Post #1500 and attended Mentor Plains Metodist Church. After retirement Mr. Shaw and his wife enjoyed travel, winters in Florida, and spending time with their family. He leaves behind his children, Jerry N. Shaw of West Covina, CA, Jeanne (Marty) Roth of Westerville, Lori (David) Truitt of Gahanna, and Terry (Sharon) Shaw of Mentor; as well as sister-in-laws, Sue Tutt of Memphis, TN and Jenny (Jack) Henderson of Greenville, Miss. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Muriel J. Shaw "Mickey"; and grandaughter, Jessica Ann Roose. Friends and family are invited to help celebrate Dick's life at a Memorial Reception held at Mentor Plains United Methodist Church, 7271 Lakeshore Blvd. on Saturday, March 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made in Mr. Shaw's memory to: Hospice of The Western Reserve 17876 St. Clair Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44110 Arrangements entrusted to Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, Willoughby. www.davisbabcock.com
