Mrs. Alberta Magill, 93, of Painesville, passed away Dec. 8, 2013, at Heartland of Mentor.
She was born April 3, 1920, in Ashtabula, to Dwight and Velma Howard.
Mrs. Magill enjoyed gardening and flowers. She was an avid reader of history and enjoyed writing. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she had served as secretary, and attended Zion Lutheran Church in Painesville. The most important thing in her life was her family. She completed nurses' training in 1940 and worked as a private duty nurse.
She is survived by her children, Marsha (Dan) Hopkins of Euclid, Linda (Tom) Beall of Mentor, Charles (Ann) Magill of Huntsville, Pam (Bill) Martin of Mentor, Paul Magill of Painesville and Margie Magill of Annapolis, Md. She also leaves 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and dear cousin, Margaret McGrody of Conneaut.
Mrs. Magill was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, whom she married in 1942; her parents; and brothers, Arnold and Richard Howard.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave. (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville.
A private family service will be held. Interment will take place in Mentor Cemetery.
