Alvin A. Cox, 90, of Sandusky and formerly of Mentor, passed away April 12, 2014, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
Alvin was born October 13, 1923, in La Jose, Pa., to William & Ada Cox.
Mr. Cox served in the US Navy
Alvin worked for CEI as a yard operator until his retirement.
He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, bingo, gardening, and growing roses.
Survivors include his children, Arthur (Jeannette) Cox of Eastlake, William (Donna) Cox of Ardmore, Okla. & Teresa (Ron) Lewis of Davenport, Fla; grandchildren, Brian (Juliet), Adam (Sarah), Ryan (Sarah), Heather, Tara & Eric (Sarah); ten great-grandchildren; and brother, Norman Cox of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Elsie; siblings, Robert & Reba; and his parents.
Funeral service will be held 12 noon Saturday at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mentor Cemetery, Mentor.
