Charles Wm. "Chuck" Overbaugh, age 86, of Mentor, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Lake West Medical Center, Willoughby
He was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Bellaire.
Mr. Overbaugh was an elementary teacher for fourth and sixth grades at Hopkins Elementary School in the Mentor School System for 30 years until his retirement in 1991. He was a U.S. Navy
Seaman 1st Class Veteran of WWII
Chuck enjoyed gardening, especially working with his roses. He was a world traveler and a classic car enthusiast. He renovated classic cars and toured the classic car route with his son Richard. But his most joy came in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Donna-marie (Dennis) Mominee of Martin, and Richard (Karen Kern) Overbaugh of Chesapeake, Va.; first wife, Uarda Taylor; grandchildren, Sarah (Sean) Newmister and Alex (Kayla McMahon) Mominee; great-grandchildren, Rayne and Grant; brother, Clarence "Bunk" (Laura) Overbaugh of Willoughby.
Preceding Chuck in death was his wife, Nina (O'Malley) Overbaugh; son, Duane Overbaugh, infant daughters, Christy Ann and Cheryl Lynn Overbaugh; parents, Charles O. and Helen Overbaugh; sisters, Genevieve "Genny" Crow and Charlotte Sole, brother, Kenneth Overbaugh.
A Celebration of Chuck's life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, in the Reception Center on the Brunner Campus, 8466 Mentor Ave. Mentor, OH. 44060
