Dale Greig, 82, of Willoughby Hills for the past 52 years, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013.
He was born May 1, 1931, in Cleveland, to Curtis and Henrietta Greig.
Dale graduated from Brush High School in 1948 and Case Institute of Technology in 1952. Dale retired after 30 years from Terex Division of General Motors
. Other than his family, he enjoyed working 60 years on the Greig Christmas Tree Farm, starting out with his brother, Claude and most recently with his sons and their families.
He served in the U.S. Navy
before being honorably discharged.
Dale was a member of the Northeast Ohio Christmas Tree Growers, Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church and Therapy Dog International. Dale enjoyed taking his dog, Josie around to different facilities visiting children and watching the joy, the smiles and listening to the laughter through the unconditional love Josie was able to give.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Jean; children, Barb (Doug) Friedt, Jeff (Lisa) Greig, Sandy (Amy) Greig, Dave (Jennifer) Greig and Doug (Ingrid) Greig; grandchildren, Brian (Natasha), Colin, Lucy, Silvio, Nic, Jeremy, Kyle, Jeff and Jon; and great-grandson, Avi.
Dale was preceded in death by his brother, Claude Greig; and his parents.
Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Reception Center on the Brunner Campus, with a memorial service to immediately follow at 7:30 p.m.
