Donald E. Mantell Sr., 80, of Eastlake, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013.
Born Sept. 23, 1933, in Cleveland, the son of Clarence and Maude (Van Deusen) Mantell served his country in the U.S. Navy
from 1955 to 1957.
On Aug. 16, 1958, he married Madeleine Grow, his loving wife of 55 years.
Donald worked for Turner Construction Company for more than 40 years as a superintendent. He was a true craftsman and carpenter and enjoyed wood working, but the times Don most enjoyed in life were those spent with his family. He was a loving and hard-working husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors are his wife, Madeleine; loving daughter, Andrea (Jim) Bowens; daughter-in-law, Nicole Mantell; grandchildren, Jacob (Sara) Newpher, Brett Bowens, Amy Bowens, Hannah Mantell, Isabel Mantell, Tori Mantell and Gabriel Mantell; brother, Ted (Ute); and nephew, James (Becky) Doty.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald E. Mantell Jr., in 2008; sister, Janet Doty; and brother, Rodney (Flo) Mantell.
At his request, no public services will take place.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake.
