Eleanor F. Ensinger, age 92, of Garfield Heights, died March 24, 2014, at the Jennings Center for Older Adults in Garfield Heights. She was born April 9, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY.
Eleanor was a member of the first platoon inducted into the newly formed Women Marines - "Free a Marine to Fight". She served our country from 1943 to 1945.
Eleanor was the dear mother of Charles (Lynne) Ensinger, Pete (Lynn) Ensinger, and Janet (Jim) Payne; grandmother of Katie (Jeremy) Giles, David Ensinger, Fred (Jennifer) Ensinger, and Andrew Ensinger; great grandmother of Regan, Tucker, Ellie and Vince.
Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late Richard; daughter of the late Walter and Laurentia O'Neill; and sister of the late Joan Bryson, and Robert O'Neill.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Jennings Center for Older Adults, 10204 Grainger Rd, Garfield Heights, OH 44125, where the family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
