Frank Malensek, 87, of Mentor, formerly of Burton, died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning, June 18, 2013, at Altercare of Mentor. He was born on Oct. 8, 1925, in Claridon, Ohio, son of Louis and Frances (Otonicar) Malensek.
He was a 1944 graduate of Burton High School and served in the U.S. Navy
1945-1946. He married Patricia Johnson June 16, 1946. They were married 64 years before she died Jan. 27, 2011. They lived in Burton until 1978; moved to Tennessee until 2008, when they moved to Mentor. Frank was a Barber in Burton for over 25 years. He was a member of the Burton Volunteer Fire Department and the fire chief for several years; also, he was a member of American Legion Post #459 in Burton. He was involved with the construction of the Legion Building. His hobbies included woodworking; stained glass; fishing in Canada and hunting rattlesnake and deer.
He will be missed dearly by his friends and family; two children, Cheryl (Victor) Puleo of Willoughby and Jennifer (John) Vinecourt of Burton; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Willie (Barbara) Malensek of Burton; and sister, Ann Ferry of Middlefield. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Debbie Malensek in 2009; and brothers, Stanley, Charles, Martin, and Matthew.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Burton Congregational Church, 14558 W. Park St., "On the Square" in Burton. Rev. Jay Carroll will officiate. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post #459.
