George Packish, age 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 13, 2014.
He was born in Nemacolin, Pa. on Dec. 12, 1929, the son of Nicholas and Dora (Dragich) Packish.
George enlisted in the US Army
and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict
On Nov. 26, 1953, he married Elsie E. Homenuk.
He was a member of the Willowick American Legion Post No. 678 and the Willoughby Eagles Lodge.
George loved horses and going to the races. He was an avid gardener and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. While in the army, he played basketball and boxed. He was a proud and loving father, grandfather and friend to many.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Diane Miller; grandchildren, Anthony (Jessica) Jafelice and Rogette (Gabriel) Kazerooni; his great-grandson Zachary Jafelice; and his sisters, Kay (Anton) Moze and Mary Masci.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Elsie on Jan. 16, 1996; his brother Chuck and his sister Martha Grbich.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (April 16th) at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 2151 W. Wallings Rd., Broadview Hts. Burial will follow in Holy Spirit Cemetery, Parma.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd. Eastlake.
