Harold C. "Chip" Lightner, 83, passed away Tuesday June 17, 2014 at his residence in Chardon.
He was born June 23, 1930 in Blandburg, PA.
Mr. Lightner was a volunteer firefighter
/ paramedic for the Kirtland Fire Department for many years. He was a senior tool & die maker for the former Ardac – Maytag Corporation. Hobbies of his included fishing, hunting, camping, collecting and repairing clocks, trains, woodworking and watching the Cleveland Browns and Indians play. Chip was a jack of all trades and a master of all. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother he had a "heart of gold."
Survivors are his wife Mary Lightner whom he was married to for 45 years; daughter, Carol Franks and step children, Theresa Speelberg and Thomas (Kathy) Beck. He is also survived by six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his brothers, Dennis, Alfred "Butch", Arthur "Art" (Joyce) and Vernon "Ronnie" (Marie) Lightner and his sisters, Gloria Burris and Shelby (Thom) Stoy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ada Lightner, his step son, Robert Beck and his brothers Rex and Mike Lightner.
Funeral service will be held 5 p.m. Friday at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Private family inurnment will be held at All Souls Cemetery at a later date.
