Services for Jean E. (Schmitt) Baker, 88, formerly of Mentor, will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Jean's life at the home of her son, Gary, 5910 Birchwood Drive, Mentor, from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Baker passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Geneva Village Assisted Living Center in Geneva.
Born Dec. 17, 1924, in Cleveland, she lived in Mentor for more than 50 years before moving to Geneva.
She was a faithful member of Faith Community Church in Mentor and enjoyed gardening.
Mrs. Baker was employed as a cafeteria aide at Mentor High School before her retirement.
Survivors are her son, Gary (Margaret) Baker of Mentor; grandsons, Ernie (Tina), Robert, Mark and Richard; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy ""Dot"" Lick of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Wilbur E. Baker, on March 20, 2009; and her son, Craig Baker, on Feb. 22, 2013. Her parents, Elmer and Marian (Duncan) Schmitt are also deceased.
Private burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
