John Makse Sr., 48, of Medina, passed away March 22, 2013, surrounded by his family.
John was born Oct. 11, 1964, in Cleveland, to Theodore W. Makse and Marcella J. Opalka.
He served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force
during Grenada and was a member of the VFW
Post in Brunswick. John had played the drums since the age of four, was a member of two bands, Bangkok Train Wreck and Scratch Cut, and he loved to write and record his own music. He was a member of Grace Church in Bath and enjoyed riding his Harley.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Toni M. (Grant) Makse; loving children, John Theodore "JT" Makse, Jr., Shaun Douglas and Wesley Jamez Makse; stepchildren, Shane Esaly and Justin Bretz; mother, Marcella Makse; father, Theodore (Karen "Sue") Makse; sisters, Pattrisha Howell-Fowler, Dora Ann Maske and Rhonda (Jim) Parmertor; brother, James "Bub" Makse; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina.
