John William ""Bill"" Lutz, 95, of Painesville for the past two years and formerly of Mayfield Heights, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Starkey Place in Painesville.
Born July 9, 1918, in Cleveland, Mr. Lutz was a security guard for Brinks Inc. for 35 years until his retirement in 1980.
John was a U.S. Army World War II
veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre and fighting in the battles of Saipan and Okinawa as a Tech 5 in the 27th Infantry Division. He was a lifelong avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Survivors include his daughter, Char (Don) Goodman of Painesville Township, grandsons, Jeff (Julia) Goodman of Mentor and Todd (Erin) Goodman of Taylor Mill, Ky.; great-grandsons, Joseph, James and Grady Goodman; and sister, Arleen Wright of Wickliffe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Lutz; and parents, John F. and Carmen Lutz.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Mausoleum Chapel at Knollwood Cemetery, 1678 S.O.M. Center Road, Mayfield Heights.
