Mary A. (Torok) DeCola, 96, a 90-year resident of Mentor, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Bridgeport, Conn.
Mrs. DeCola was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, needlepoint and yardwork. She was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Mentor, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Ladies Guild, volunteered for many years for the church's festival and was a pro-life advocate.
Survivors include her daughters, JoAnn (Thomas) Chandler of Virginia and Patricia (William) Hocevar of Geneva; grandchildren, Kim (Mark) Mierchuk, Ken (JoAnne Sorci) Kindler, Jeff Kindler, Lisa (Stephen) Holmberg, Tina Marie Hocevar, Dawn Marie (Eric) Waldmann, William (Stephanie) Hocevar Jr. and Christopher (Sue) Hocevar; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Alison, Rachael, Sean, Lauren, Aaron, Mark, Daniel, Christopher Jr. and Jonathan; sister, Barbara Jane Fay of California; brother, Frank S. Torok of Connecticut; and brother-in-law, Charles (Pauline) DeCola of Mentor.
Preceding Mary in death were her husband, John J. DeCola; grandson, Frank Hocevar; sisters, Anna Rosci and Helen Fornadley; and brothers, John, Joseph and Steven Torok.
The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave, Mentor.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
