Mildred F. (Makovicka) Palivoda-LaCava, 89, who resided at Salida Woods Assisted Living in Mentor for the past three years, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Lake West Medical Center in Willougby.
She was born Nov. 29, 1923, in Maple Heights and was a former resident of Euclid.
Mildred was a wonderful homemaker. She belonged to Genesis at the former Holy Cross Church in Euclid and was a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry at St. John Vianney Church, Mentor.
She was a die-hard Cleveland sports fan supporting the Browns, Indians and Cavaliers.
Survivors include her children, David LaCava of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Charlotte (John) Valencic of Mentor, Denise (Pat) Cappiello of Mentor, George (Mary Lou) LaCava of Novelty, Jeff LaCava of Atlanta, Ga., Frank (Lynette) LaCava of Marco Island, Fla., Lori (Al) Andersen of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Alan (Robin ) LaCava of Brecksville, Martin (Nancy) LaCava of Chardon, John (Diane) LaCava of Painesville, James (Melissa) LaCava of Kingsville, 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Bartlett of Pleasanton, Calif.
Preceding Mildred in death is her first husband of 14 years, Andrew Palivoda; second husband of 48 years, Franklin LaCava; parents, Frank and Mary Makovicka; sisters, Mary Riha and Wilhemena Makovicka and brother, Frankie Makovicka.
The Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor.
The family will receive friends Friday 4 to 8 p.m. at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
