Robert Chester Burnett(1924-2013)

Robert Chester Burnett, 88, of Eastlake, passed away Feb. 24, 2013, at Golden Living Health Center in Kirtland, under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve.
Mr. Burnett was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Grace L. (Strine); parents, Robert J. Burnett and Stella M. (Wilson) Burnett Trefsger; sister, Marion Ruth Burnett (Edward) Boyd; and brother, William Wilson (Evelyn) Burnett. He was also predeceased by his stepbrothers, Harry S. (Helen) Trefsger, Russell E. (Lenora) Trefsger and Kenneth R. Trefsger; nephews, William B. Burnett and David Strine; and brother-in-law, William (Margaret) Strine.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Frieda Strine Princic of California and Margaret (William) Strine of Ohio. He is also survived by a loving family of nieces and nephews, Ruth Boyd Perz of Eastlake, Mary Ellen Boyd (Terry) Reynolds of Mentor, Edward T. (Patricia) Boyd of Willoughby, Karen J. Burnett Cook of Michigan, Robert W. Burnett (Diana) of Michigan, Kenneth E. Trefsger of Pennsylvania, Kenneth Strine, Susan Strine Farrenholz, Janet Strine Hutchinson and Patricia Strine (David) Croucher; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and 15 great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was born July 1, 1924, in Strong, Pa., and during World War II served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. He moved to Cleveland during the mid-1940s and worked as a lathe operator at Warner and Swasey and Jack and Heintz. He retired as an HVAC technician in 1997 from Meridian Huron Road Hospital. He also was formerly employed at Derov's Sohio Service Station (mechanic), and the YMCA (maintenance). He loved to work with his hands, fixing anything from can openers to cars. Since 1952, he was a master mason of Lyndhurst Lodge No. 508, F. and A. M.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Interment will be at Knollwood Cemetery.
