Robert G. Clapp(1924-2013)

Graveside services for Robert G. Clapp, 88, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Mentor Cemetery, 6881 Hopkins Road, Mentor. Please meet the family at Section 10, near the center of the cemetery.
Mr. Clapp passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Madison Healthcare Center in Madison Township.
Born June 8, 1924, in Mentor, he was a lifelong Lake County resident.
Bob obtained the rank of Eagle Scout prior to graduation from Mentor High School's Class of 1942. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he received training and earned his wings as a Navy pilot, becoming a member of a limited select group flying off the heavy cruiser, USS Los Angeles. Bob loved to travel with his family and was a gardening enthusiast.
Mr. Clapp was employed by General Motors, Mack Trucks and the former White Motors Corporation in Cleveland, where he retired as a corporate credit manager.
Survivors are his children, R. Jack (Jane) Clapp of Polson, Mont., Timothy (Lisa) Clapp of Concord Township and Bobbi (Harold) Schuster of Windsor, Ontario, Canada; and grandchildren, Todd, Jody, Ryan, Kelly and Grant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June (Mog) Clapp, whom he married in 1946, after 31 years of marriage in 1977. His parents, Harland and Susie (Anderson) Clapp; and sister, Elrene Christian are also deceased.
