Russell D. Phelps, 54, beloved son of Norma Peterson of Mentor and Fred Phelps of Waynesville, N.C., passed away March 12, 2012, after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 18, 1958, in Ashtabula, he had resided in Angleton, Texas for the past 12 years.
Russell was a supervisor in the construction industry working on many historical buildings including century churches and restaurants as well as schools, skyscrapers, and hospitals.
Russell is survived by his parents; son, Ryan Phelps of Valdosta, Ga.; daughter, Danielle Phelps of Louisville, Ky.; grandson, Kane Phelps; siblings, Wayne Phelps, Karen (Jerry) Mason and Adam (Jennifer) Phelps; and several aunts, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at North Mentor Centenary United Methodist Church, 9290 Lake Shore Blvd., Mentor. Burial will follow at Mentor Municipal Cemetery.
