Susan Downing McMennamin, 65, of Columbus and formerly of Painesville, passed away Oct. 23, 2013, after a hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer.
Born July 21, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minn., Susan graduated from Riverside High School in 1966.
Susan's passion for volunteering benefited numerous organizations and played a role in shaping her children's views on the importance of giving back. She volunteered her time with Franklin County Children's Services, the Columbus Museum of Art Women's Board, Upper Arlington PTO and the Franklin Park Conservatory. She was an avid tennis and golf player. Her love for travel took her all around the world, making exciting and humorous memories with her friends and family.
Susan is survived by her daughters, Kelly (Brian) Hartman of Louisiana and Tricia (Ernie) Pate of Tennessee; grandchildren, Wesley, Megan and Eli; and siblings, William F. (Jan) Downing, Margaret (Albert) Papp and Patricia (Edward) Howe.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, and a memorial service at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus.
