Claire McClelland Obituary
Born Aug. 21, 1926, in Chardon, he had been a lifelong area resident, enjoying the last 43 years in Chardon.
Mr. McClelland worked as an assembly supervisor for the Horsburgh & Scott Company in Cleveland for 27 years, retiring in 1991. He previously hauled bulk milk from farms to Cleveland area dairies for 23 years.
Claire Donald McClelland married Millicent "Millie" Kuchta in Windsor, July 15, 1950.
Mr. McClelland attended Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He and his wife enjoyed traveling. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan and especially enjoyed the Chardon Hilltoppers sports teams.
Survivors are his wife, Millicent "Millie" (Kuchta) McClelland of Chardon; children, Daniel (Beverly) McClelland of Munson Township, Dean (Margi) McClelland of Hudson, Mary (Tim) Williams of Chardon and Ann (Barry) Klein of Hudson; grandchildren, Daniel (Jenn) McClelland of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Kelly (Dan) Slattery of Burton Township, Andy (Faith) McClelland of Hambden Township, Meghan (Matt) Vickers of Willoughby, Bryan McClelland of Denver, Colo., Katie McClelland of Westerville, John Williams of Binghamton, N.Y., Jane, Sarah and Maggie Williams of Chardon, and Amy, Allison and Michael Zeleznik of Hudson; great-grandchildren, Kristyn, Tyler, Jack, Will and Evan; and sisters, Phyllis Ciresi and Arlene (Burt) Fontaine.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd McClelland; mother, Marguerite (nee, Ford) (Clifford) Carraher; and brother, Russell Carraher.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Pilgrim Christian Church, 202 South Hambden St., Chardon. The Rev. Paul Durban, PhD, Interim Pastor will officiate.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2011, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Private family burial will be at Chardon Municipal Cemetery in Chardon.
Contributions are suggested to Pilgrim Christian Church, Steeple Fund, 202 South Hambden St., Chardon, OH 44024.
