V. Shanower Obituary

Lucille Shanower died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at the Residence of Chardon, Ohio.
She was born in Cleveland May 31, 1916, to Joseph and Adella (nee: Grandy) Evans.
She raised three sons with her first husband Stanley. In all of his business ventures Lucille stood beside him as partner, always a model of modesty and thrift. She later pursued a personal goal and became a librarian at Willoughby Public Library. She was attentive to everyone in her life and was a favorite in her residences in Mentor, Ohio, and Winter Haven, Florida. Those who knew Lucille appreciated her wry sense of humor and joined in her easy-going laughter. She was the last surviving member of Mentor High School's Class of 1935.
She was preceded in death by husbands Stanley R. Shanower and Rene Cote.
She is mourned by her family; son, James L. (Karen nee: Hietanen) and grandchildren, Eric (life partner David Maxine) and Elizabeth; son, Gary L. (Gale nee: Bosley); grandchild, Carol (Charles E., Jr.) Strazinsky, and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Mason, Erika, and Toni; son, David L. and grandchildren, John and Brian. They will miss her peace and strength.
The family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Claire Ave., Cleveland, 44110. Arrangements are being handled by the Burr Funeral Home, Chardon. Disposition of Lucille's remains will be private. Information and condolences online at www.burrservice.com.

We enjoyed camping with Lucille and Stan in the early '80s when families from North Mentor Centenary Church would get together. They were good people! They had a nice motor home, as did my parents, and we shared a tent with our 3 little boys. It was a treat to spend time in those "palaces!" I miss the old gang.
