William Deitmen Obituary
He was born Oct. 20, 1988, in Painesville.
Billy was enrolled in Case Western Reserve Anesthesiology Program doing a seven-week rotation in Cincinnati at Christ Hospital. Billy was a 2011 Case Western Reserve graduate with a bachelor of science in biology and minors in chemistry and Spanish.
He was a graduate of Mentor High School, Class of 2007. Billy played football in high school and college. He enjoyed all sports including skiing, fishing, golfing, and anything outdoors. Billy liked all types of music. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
A celebration of Billy's life will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. The family requests casual attire or your Mentor Cardinal or Case Western Reserve Spartans apparel.
Billy's survivors include his parents, William A. and Laurie A. (Simpson) Deitmen of Mentor; sister, Lindsey N. Deitmen of Mentor; grandmother, Miriam J. Deitmen of Mentor; grandparents, Phyllis and Joseph Slifko of Mentor; grandfather, Samuel (Fran) Simpson of Kingsman, Ariz.; uncle, Ken (Becky) Deitmen of Harrisburg, Pa.; aunt, Tracy (Mark) Gibson of Mentor; uncle, Joe (Tina) Slifko of Willoughby; aunt, Jenny Simpson and uncle, Todd Simpson, both of Kingsman, Ariz.; and cousins, Rachel, Megan, Mark Jr. and Amber.
Billy was preceded in death by his grandfather, William T. Deitmen.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 310, White Plains, NY 10605.

I was out of town and stunned to hear the news when I returned.I am so sorry that I could not be there. I can't find the words to comfort you. I loved seeing Billy at MHS and watching him grow as I remembered the years I had with both of you when you were in high school. He was the most wonderful young man. Always the biggest smile and the biggest heart. Such a combination of you both. He was the best at everything he did and a gift to all who knew him. Bill, Laurie, and Family, We can't begin to express our sadness with passing of Billy. Upon reading many of the online Guest Book responses, it doesn't surprise me to see how many lives this young man has touched. A true leader with an infectious smile and a very engaging personality. Obviously our hearts go out to the entire Deitman Family and only wish he could still be with us all. The world needs more individuals like Billy Jr. and this just shows you once again that the apple does not fall far from the tree. Just know that you are Loved and Supported by many individuals. Billy was one of those guys that got along with everyone no matter your what "group" you were in. He was a genuinely nice guy to everyone. We need more people in this world like him and to lose him leaves us all speechless. Although I didn't know him well I knew him to be a nice guy with a bright future. Deitman family - we as some never met Billy, but our son Chris was hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Case in 2008. We have since learned that one of the first athletes to introduce himself was Billy. After 2 years Chris became the Head Athletic Trainer. We always enjoyed watching Case footbaall even though we didn't know the players! Chris has since moved out of state, but we were with him when he learned that Billy had passed away. As a mother I knew something devistating had happened. My husband, Steve and I are so sorry to hear what had happened. May all the blessings that God has bestowed and the memories comfort you. I had the pleasure of playing against Billy multiple times in HS at Solon and for 3 years at Case. While Mentor was never my favorite team to play against, I am glad to have the honor of playing with Billy for 3 years. He was a genuinely nice guy and one that I always enjoyed hanging out with and seeing at football. I am glad to have known such a great kid. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Billy was an amazing person in every aspect of life and he will be missed dearly. He had a large impact on my life growing up, and was always a great friend. I played football, baseball and basketball with Billy through tenth grade, and he was always the person I looked up to the most. A true leader on and off the field, and a genuinely nice person. A great friend, who's impact cannot be measured in years, but instead by the number of people whose lives he's affected. My deepest sympathy to the Deitmen family. I was in Vancouver through last week and back today, and I was shocked to hear the loss of Billy. As a neighbor down the street, I was blessed to meet Billy when he was selling raffle tickets for school football. We chatted for awhile, and I was so impressed with his freshness, exuberance, and friendliness...attributes not found often enough in today's youth. He was certainly an outstanding young man, and we all will miss him dearly. My heart goes out to the family, what a terrible loss, but he is certainly now with the Lord looking over his family.

Billy was a good friend of mine and teammate at Case Western Reserve University. We were also high school rivals glenville vs. mentor. He had personality that could light up a room. I am very Sorry for your great loss, I did not know Billy peronally. I can tell you that I enjoyed watching him play on Friday nights. I was one of his biggest Fans!!! I wish that I could say somthing to take away your Pain, but I know that I cant because I also have children. For almost 3 years we had the joy of knowing and loving Billy. Our family will never forget him. Our prayers are with his mom, dad, sister and extended family. We were always reminded by our daughter of how close and loving of a family they were. We love you Billy, we know you are safe in heaven, may God bless your family at this difficult time.

I was sadden to read about the loss of your young son. My son played against Billy and the Mentor team in Canton for the state championship. That was a great game for both teams to be involved in. My prayers are with his family in this sad time.

I am a Case student, and although I did not know Billy personally, I know that he was highly regarded on campus. I am so sorry to the Deitmen family for their loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Billy has left a great impact on so many people, and will not be forgotten.

Sometimes you meet someone who truly could "change the world"...didn't know
Billy well but sure made an impression on me from the moment we met and weekend we spent skiing together with our families. Makes no sense why but knowing there's a bigger better place out there is where Billy must be.
