October 29, 2012

Dear Bill and Laurie,
I was out of town and stunned to hear the news when I returned.I am so sorry that I could not be there. I can't find the words to comfort you. I loved seeing Billy at MHS and watching him grow as I remembered the years I had with both of you when you were in high school. He was the most wonderful young man. Always the biggest smile and the biggest heart. Such a combination of you both. He was the best at everything he did and a gift to all who knew him. I am so sad that you had to lose this beautiful young man but you raised a great son who did so much in the time he had. His happiness is a tribute to the home and family you provided for him. May God grant you some peace and understanding in the days to come and help to heal your broken hearts. I love you!

Bill, Laurie, and Family, We can't begin to express our sadness with passing of Billy. Upon reading many of the online Guest Book responses, it doesn't surprise me to see how many lives this young man has touched. A true leader with an infectious smile and a very engaging personality. Obviously our hearts go out to the entire Deitman Family and only wish he could still be with us all. The world needs more individuals like Billy Jr. and this just shows you once again that the apple does not fall far from the tree. Just know that you are Loved and Supported by many individuals. God Bless.

Billy was one of those guys that got along with everyone no matter your what "group" you were in. He was a genuinely nice guy to everyone. We need more people in this world like him and to lose him leaves us all speechless. Although I didn't know him well I knew him to be a nice guy with a bright future. It is so hard to lose a classmate and I cannot even fathom the loss for his family. My thoughts are with them. MHS Class of '07

Deitman family - we as some never met Billy, but our son Chris was hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Case in 2008. We have since learned that one of the first athletes to introduce himself was Billy. After 2 years Chris became the Head Athletic Trainer. We always enjoyed watching Case footbaall even though we didn't know the players! Chris has since moved out of state, but we were with him when he learned that Billy had passed away. As a mother I knew something devistating had happened. My husband, Steve and I are so sorry to hear what had happened. May all the blessings that God has bestowed and the memories comfort you. Bill, Laurie, and Lindsey,

It has been said that true wealth is not measured in the size of your bank account. It is measured in how your children succeed in life. Bill and Laurie, clearly you have broken the bank.
The Dugan's are so incredibly blessed to have had Billy a part of our lives for the past several years. Billy brightened up our house every time he entered. More importantly, as parents we could not have asked for a better best friend for Ryan. Billy's positive influence will live in Ryan forever as well as the entire Dugan family. Thank you for that Billy! Rest in Peace and Shine On!

I had the pleasure of playing against Billy multiple times in HS at Solon and for 3 years at Case. While Mentor was never my favorite team to play against, I am glad to have the honor of playing with Billy for 3 years. He was a genuinely nice guy and one that I always enjoyed hanging out with and seeing at football. I am glad to have known such a great kid. My regards go out to the Deitmen family and I am sorry for your loss.

Mr. and Mrs. Deitmen, Lindsey and family,

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Billy was an amazing person in every aspect of life and he will be missed dearly. He had a large impact on my life growing up, and was always a great friend. I played football, baseball and basketball with Billy through tenth grade, and he was always the person I looked up to the most. A true leader on and off the field, and a genuinely nice person. I will never forget his wonderful smile, laugh or the times I spent with him. The lessons he taught us will not be forgotten and may he forever be remembered as the hard-working, loving, intelligent person that he was; rest in peace Billy.

October 25, 2012

Bill, Laurie & Lindsey,

I am so sorry to hear of your tragic loss. In the "small world" we live in it's amazing to find that my nephew, Adam Watson was a teammate of Billy's both at Mentor and Case and my kids go to Hilliard Davidson so I'm certain we were all there together for the "big game". (btw, I was on the Mentor side). Bill it sounds like your son was a spitting image of you and just an all around great kid. A great friend, who's impact cannot be measured in years, but instead by the number of people whose lives he's affected. While we all wish the quantity of Bill's life was much greater, there's no debating that the quality of life he lived was as good as it gets. I'm gonna miss him, and I pray every day that time heals the wounds that the Deitman's and everyone who has had the chance to meet this wonderful man have endured. We will all miss you greatly, Bill, and cannot thank you enough for being the guy you've been to all of us.

My deepest sympathy to the Deitmen family. I was in Vancouver through last week and back today, and I was shocked to hear the loss of Billy. As a neighbor down the street, I was blessed to meet Billy when he was selling raffle tickets for school football. We chatted for awhile, and I was so impressed with his freshness, exuberance, and friendliness...attributes not found often enough in today's youth. He was certainly an outstanding young man, and we all will miss him dearly. My heart goes out to the family, what a terrible loss, but he is certainly now with the Lord looking over his family.

Sometimes you meet someone who truly could "change the world"...didn't know
Billy well but sure made an impression on me from the moment we met and weekend we spent skiing together with our families. Makes no sense why but knowing there's a bigger better place out there is where Billy must be.
Our sincere sympathy to the entire family and take one day at a time holding on to all the memories that will be with you forever.

Bill, Laurie, Lindsey, and the rest of the family. We were very very saddened to hear the news. Billy will never be forgotten. He will always have a special place in our hearts knowing he was Stephanie's first boyfriend! He will be truly missed by all. We will hold his kindness and wonderful smile close to our hearts!
