Mass of Christian Burial for Adria Jadranka (Kostelic) Sankovic, 65, of Chester Township, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at St. Anselm Church, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. The Fr. Stephen Spisak will officiate. Entombment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Adria passed away Dec. 27, 2013, at Hillcrest Hospital.
Born in Zagreb, Croatia, she had been a resident of Richmond Heights before moving to Chester Township 41 years ago.
For 22 years, Adria was the founding assistant director of the LL.M. (masters of law) program for foreign law students at Case Western Reserve University, which currently has over 800 alumni. The CWRU Law School has established the Adria J. Sankovic Award to be awarded yearly to the student who best exemplifies the outstanding qualities of Adria.
Survivors are her husband, John (Radovan); daughters, Diana and Julie; stepson, John (Patty); grandchildren, Alexandra, Peter, Julia and Little Charlie; brother-in-law, Miro (Biserka) Sankovic; aunts, Elizabeth (Sava) Marin of Cleveland and Jelka DeCarli of Australia; and many nieces and nephews.
Adria was preceded in death by her parents, Stefanie and Dragutin Kostelic.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Road and Route 91).
Family suggests contributions may be made in Adria's memory to a breast cancer awareness .
