Andrew A. Szabo, age 80, passed away May 29, 2014.
He was born in Cleveland to Stephen and Mary (nee Paul) on August 27, 1933.
He served as a police officer for the City of Willowick for 30 years before retiring as a member of their Detective Bureau in 1986.
Mr. Szabo was a charter member and past president (serving in 1974) of the West Lake County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #116 and was known for his enjoyment of both professional and college sports including baseball, basketball and football.
Beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Miller), dear father of Terry (Amy), Debbie Dea (Thomas) and Tom (Patty); grandfather of Jacob, Abraham, Matthew, Carly, Dominic, Zach and Alex; great-grandfather of Ryan and Noah; and dearest brother of Frank.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elsie and Irene; and brothers, Alex, Steve, Elmer and Richard.
A private funeral service for immediate family was held with arrangements by the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
His family requests any donations to be made in his name to the Hospice of the Western Reserve.
