Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel J. Walsh, 80, of Chardon, will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon. Burial with military honors will follow at All Souls Cemetery.

Mr. Walsh passed away June 29, 2013, in Chardon.
Born Sept. 25, 1932, in Cleveland, Dan was a member of the Knights of Columbus Geauga Council 3304 and a Korean Conflict U.S. Navy veteran. A graduate of Benedictine High School, Dan received a bachelor's degree and worked as a maintenance supervisor for General Motors. He lived in Cleveland before moving to Chardon and joining St. Mary's Parish in 1954. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed speed-reading, writing, collecting clowns and listening to Irish and country music. His greatest pleasure was his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as an entertaining jokester who was often the life of the party and loved telling stories.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Marianne (nee Fink); sons, Dennis (Teresa) of California, Patrick (Paula) of Mentor and Mark (Laura) of Painesville; daughter, Marie (James) Jones of Munson; grandchildren, Christian (Stephanie), Daniel, Jacqueline (Brandon) Finomore, Allison (David) Grampa, Matthew, Jennifer (John) Till, and Scott, Tom and Max Greenberg; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Logan, Liam, Gianna, Sofia, Cole, Julia and twins Augie and Graesyn; brother, Christopher of Chardon; sisters, Patricia Corrigan and Sheila (Richard) Grantham, both of Chardon; and brother-in-law, Thomas McDonald. He also was the dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Mr. Walsh was preceded in death by his son, Gerald; grandson, Mark Jr.; parents, Patrick and Marguerite (nee Haney); brothers, Michael and Edward; sister, Joan McDonald; and brother-in-law, Neil Corrigan.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Dan from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the DeJohn Funeral Home and Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro), 126 South St., Chardon (Route 44, south of Route 6/Chardon Square).
