David Gara, 87, of Willowick, died unexpectedly Tuesday July 16, 2013.
He was born in Lambert, Pa., on Nov. 27, 1925, the son of Steve and Rose (Sabath) Gara.
David proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On May 28, 1959, he married Agnes H. Spurrier.
He worked at the Addressograph-Multigraph Company for almost 30 years until its closure; he also worked as a courier for Bank One for 10 years. David was a member of Shoregate United Methodist Church, the YMCA-Silver Sneakers Club and the Willowick Walkers.
David enjoyed gardening, bus trips and gambling, but the times he most enjoyed in life were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving family: his daughter, Susan (Joseph) Mastromonaco; his son, David (Candy) Gara; his grandchildren, Kelly (Aaron) White, Joshua, Catrina, David and Kristina; and his sister, Rose (John) Burns.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Agnes who passed away in 2007; his parents; and six siblings.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake. Burial will follow in Mentor Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
