Dennis G. Byler, 54, of Madison for the past nine years and formerly of Mentor, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Born July 16, 1959, in Cleveland, Dennis worked as an assembler at Deepwood Industries in Mentor for 36 years.
Dennis enjoyed watching wrestling, especially his favorite wrestler "The Undertaker"; he also enjoyed Christmas, music and scary movies. Dennis participated in the Special Olympics and won gold medals in swimming and track. He always had a sense of empathy for people.
Survivors include his siblings, Theresa (Brian) Case of Willowick and Richard Simmons of Mentor; niece, Katelyn Case; and nephew, Joseph Case.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Grover "Red" and Gilda Simmons.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, with the family receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. immediately prior to the services.
Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
