Private family services were held for Joseph Barbis Jr., 92, of Wickliffe.
Mr. Barbis passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his residence.
He was born June 20, 1921, in Cleveland.
Mr. Barbis was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the U.S. LST Association. He loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the loving father of Frederic C. (Nelya) Barbis of Denver, Colo., and Robert W. (Laurie) Barbis of Mentor; cherished grandfather of Nicole S. (Tim) McGarry, Zachary T. Barbis and Melanie E. Barbis; great-grandfather of Kelsey, Madalyn, Ava and Mia; and brother of William Barbis.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Olga Helen (nee Vessel) Barbis; son, Thomas Barbis; parents, Joseph and Jennifer (nee Delost) Barbis Sr.; and brothers, Rudolph "Chuck" Barbis and Arthur Barbis.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
