Katherine Bartish, 79, of Mentor, passed away Oct. 16, 2013, after a long illness, suffering with dementia. Besides hospital stays, she was a patient at The Fairways in Wickliffe for several months.
Born Feb. 6, 1934, in Fairport to the late Louis and Anna Bartish, Katherine graduated from Andrews School for Girls, attended Antioch College and received her degree from The
Ohio State University
in 1959. She also attended Mexico City College.
Her secretarial career included 20 years for industrial, legal and R and D firms, having worked at Argo Tech/TRW Incorporated in Cleveland.
Katherine loved to travel and had lived in Washington D.C., Mexico, and California. She always looked forward to holidays with her relatives and friends, and her yearly visit to Lilly Dale, N.Y., was her passion. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Church in Concord.
Survivors are her brother, Jim (Dorothy) Bartish of Toledo; nephew, Leigh James (Evelyn) Bartish of Texas; nieces, Laura B. Pippin of Columbus and Suzanne (Chris) Christensen; and grandnephews, Jakob and Kyle, all of Tennessee.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave. (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
