"Together Again"
Memorial services for Richard Wendell Johnson will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at St James Episcopal Church in Painesville.
Mr. Johnson passed away March 12, 2014.
He was born Nov. 24, 1923, and married Eloise Bender Johnson on June 21, 1947, in Muskegon, Mich.
Wendell graduated from Harvard College, class of 1945 and received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1949.
He was in the U.S. Army Infantry, 96th Division, WWII from 1943 to 1945 and participated in the first wave landings on Leyte and Okinawa. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Wendell's professional career included: Corporate Controller of Clevite Corp.; Financial VP of Marion Power Shovel; Group VP and Controller of Parker Hannifin; and Independent Financial Retirement Advisor for 20 years.
His activities included: Financial Executives Institute of NE Ohio; Harvard College and Harvard Business School Clubs of NE Ohio; Lake County Council of Aging; Episcopal Diocese of Ohio and choir at St. James (Painesville), Church of the Good Shepherd (Lyndhurst), St. Paul's, (Marion) and Grace Church, (Sandusky); and sailboat racing on Lake Erie.
Wendell was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise, in 2011. He is survived by his children, David P. Johnson, Susan (David) VanStone, Elizabeth (John) Morrison, six grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild and a sister Janice (Martin) Moon.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
