Richard A. Majoy, 86, of Concord Township and formerly of Mansfield, passed away July 27, 2013, at his home.
He was born May 15, 1927, in Mansfield, to the late Anthony and Mary (Yannitell) Majoy.
Mr. Majoy was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed working in his yard and especially camping with his family. He retired in 1984 as a teacher with the Willoughby-Eastlake School District, having taught at Eastlake North, Willoughby South and later at Willoughby-Eastlake Tech Center. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in China.
Mr. Majoy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Glenna E. (Kemp) Majoy; son, Karl (Jocelyne) Majoy of Parkersburg, W. Va.; and daughters, Jennifer Majoy of Broadview Heights and Nancy (Tom Crump) Berkovitz of Akron. He also leaves his grandchildren, Ben, Matt, Sam, Lizzy, Jon and Matt; as well as brother, Ken (Terry) Majoy of Mansfield; sister, Loretta Majoy of Huron; in-laws, Joe and Mary Kemp, Gene and Vicky Kemp, Martin and Karen Kemp, Camilla Kinch and Dorothy Kemp; niece, Jackie Carbetta; nephew, Chris Majoy; and several Kemp family nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Carl Majoy.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave. (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville.
