Robert A. Durkee, 82, of Willoughby, died Sept. 13, 2013, at Hospice House in Cleveland.
Bob was a Boy Scout leader, a Korean War Marine Corps veteran serving in the Mediterranean on board the U.S.S. Quincy and part owner of Quality Cafe and Willowick Beverage. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1056 and American Legion Post 678. He worked as a doorman at the Allen Theater, a pressman for the Cleveland Press until they closed in 1978, and then worked for the Plain Dealer, retiring in 1989.
He is survived by his daughters, Laura Durkee and Diane (Joe) Troha; grandchildren, Kathryn, Nicholas and Andrew; siblings, Lois Hribar and Larry (Bev); and sisters- and brother-in-law, Cathy, Larry, Kip and Maureen. He was a fabulous uncle to many.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne (nee Morrow); sister, Thelma Merryman; and sister- and brother-in-law, Margie and Tom.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
