Robert J. Marn, 69, of Chardon and formerly of Euclid, passed away July 5, 2013, in Hilton Head, S.C. He was born Sept. 10, 1943, in Cleveland.
Bob was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. A graduate of St. Joseph High School and Cleveland State University, he was the CFO for The Chilcote Co. Bob was a former member of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church when he lived in Euclid and then joined St. Mary Catholic Church when he moved to Chardon in 1999.
He was active in the Munson Township Park and Recreation Board, Habitat for Humanity and the VASJ Endowment Board. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, car restoration, gardening, travel, walking and listening to music. He will be remembered as a family oriented man who was organized, hardworking, sensitive, kind, had a great sense of humor and valued spending time with his family.
He is survived by son, Robert (partner Michael Benoit); daughters, Laurie (Jeff ""Jay"") Preston and Christine (Richard) Harrell; grandchildren, Kai and Lexi Preston, Richard ""RC"" and Graeme Harrell; brothers, Phillip ""Jim"" (Audrey) and Terry Polsak; sisters, Marlene (Bob) Suhadolnik , Marjorie (Paul) Kafka, Lillian (Chuck) Steele; and he was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Bob was preceded in death by wife, Jane (nee Fleming); parents, Phillip S. and Phyllis (nee Hite); sisters, Phyllis ""Honey"" Kramer and Linda (John) Pennington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North Street, Chardon.
Burial with military honors will follow in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate Bob's life from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the DeJohn Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro), 126 South St. (Route 44, south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bob's memory to American Red Cross,
or the United States Lifesaving Association.
