Thomas P. ""Tom"" Brown, 63, of Rocky River and formerly of Mentor, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Normandy Manor of Rocky River.
Born June 11, 1950, in Mentor, Mr. Brown was technically trained in jewelry design and delicate watch repair, and was a partner in a jewelry business in Albuquerque, N.M. He later worked for General Dynamics in San Diego, Calif., before retiring to Hawaii.
Tom graduated from former St. Joseph's High School in Euclid. After serving in the Vietnam War, he lived in Texas, New Mexico, California and eventually settled in Hawaii. Tom returned to the Cleveland area in 2009 for medical treatment and to be closer to his family.
Tom was fun-loving, incredibly youthful in spirit and gregarious. He had a lifelong love of sailing and was an avid billiards player.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Ann (John) Gallagher; sisters-in-law, Lucy Brown Hagara and Kathleen A. Brown; brother, Timothy (Penny) Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, George and Geneva Brown; and brothers, David and George Brown II.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. The family will receive friends after the service from 11 a.m. to noon. Inurnment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
