Private family services were held for William J. Feckley Jr., 78, of Mentor.
Mr. Feckley passed away Jan. 21, 2014, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
He was born Nov. 23, 1935, in Cleveland, the son of the late William J. and Gertrude (Reinke) Feckley.
Bill served in the
on the mine sweeper Illusive and was assistant chief of the Shaker Heights Fire Department, retiring in 1988, after 30 years of service.
Bill's interests were golfing, bowling, fishing, gardening at home, and constantly teasing his wife. He was a member of Willoughby Eagles Aerie 2300, American Legion Post 678 in Willowick, and a life member of
. Post 3863.
Bill leaves behind his beloved wife, Susan A. (nee Keller) Feckley. He was also the loving father of William Feckley and Karen (Jeff) Wood; stepfather of Mark, Scott and Larry; ""special dad"" to Rita Ritondaro; cherished grandfather of Shannon Leigh and Allison Grace; brother of Gertrude Cerny; and uncle to his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gertrude Feckley; stepfather, James Grady; sister, JoAnn Case; brother, Allan Feckley; and best friend, Robert Blake.
Burial was held in Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
