Adeline Grum Obituary
Adeline Grum (Noeth), age 93, died surrounded by family on August 6, 2014, at Heartland of Mentor. Beloved wife of 44 years to Edward (deceased).
She is survived by her children, Michael Grum (Audrey), Mary Louise Ezzo (James), Rose Ann Futterer (Stephen), and Carol Syracuse (Victor); and her great friend and sister-in-law, Marguerite Noeth. Loving grandma to Michael Grum, Anthony Syracuse (Cathrine), Nicholas Syracuse (Jessica), Alyssa Futterer, James Ezzo (Christine), and Lisa Gagich (Dan). Thrilled to be a great grandma to Isabelle and Alliana Syracuse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Marie Noeth; and brothers, DeWitt, Michael, and Lawrence.
She was born in Cleveland and a proud alumnus of East High School, enjoying the many reunions. She lived in Willowick for 57 years.
The Total Sports Fan she never missed watching, rooting for, and yelling at the Indians, Browns, Buckeyes, or Cavs. She had Game Day attire for all teams. As a teenager, she attended Ladies Day with her grandma at League Park. She went to the 1948 World Series.
Later in life, Adeline set goals for herself, live to the Millennium (done), reach age 90 to get free Laketran rides (done), and live to 100 (mind willing, body wore out).
She supported her children by attending every swim meet, baseball and football game, concert, church event, and graduation. Adeline was the Campfire Girls Leader for her daughters and much preferred camping to crafts. She was active in St. Mary Magdalene Ladies Guild and the Sacred Heart Circle. She was in the Mothers Club at Villa Angela High School.
Adeline enjoyed traveling, flying, and camping. She was always up for an outing. She enjoyed her lunches and trips with the Eastlake and Willowick Senior Centers and the Activities Group at Heartland.
Adeline was an avid bowler, solitaire player, bingo aficionado, and collector of puzzles and giraffes. She read the newspaper and completed the crosswords daily. At age 93, she could tell stories of her childhood, recall the Sports history of all the teams in Cleveland, and maintain her side in any debate. She was a believer in exercising her mind daily.
Her family thanks the caring staff of Heartland of Mentor and especially the staff in the Activities Center.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p. m. on Sunday, August 10, at Orlando-Donsante Funeral Home, 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick on Monday, August 11 at 11:00 a. m. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
