Alex Lekon, 91, of Hempfield Township, Pa., passed away peacefully with family at his side, at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at White Cliff Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, Pa.
Born Dec. 2, 1922, in Cleveland, he married June I. McCarty in 1950, and soon after their marriage, he graduated from the Case Institute of Technology. He worked as a chemist in Cleveland and Greenville, retiring in 1987.
Alex served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany, and was a lifetime model airplane enthusiast.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Gail, Carol, Alice and Barbara; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Osborne-Williams Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 73-75 Columbia Ave., Greenville, Pa., where a funeral service, conducted by the family, will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will follow the service at Shenango Valley Cemetery in Greenville, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Strayhaven Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Road, Greenville, PA 16125.
