Allan Michael Filipski, 63 of Bainbridge, died Monday morning, April 21, 2014 at Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood.
He was born on October 14, 1950 in Cleveland, son of Stanley and Florence (Koprowski) Filipski.
After graduating from South High School in 1968, Allan served in the U.S Army during the Vietnam era. He married Lucy Mayoros June 7, 1991 and moved to the Bainbridge area coming from Troy Township, where he was a former member of the Troy Fire Department. Allan was a meat cutter at Tops in the Cleveland area and retired in 2006.
Allan also did deer processing in Troy for over 30 years. A member of the Chagrin Falls Eagles and the Hungarian Tradesman Club in Maple Hts, his hobbies included hunting, fishing, boating and enjoyed doing Pig roasts. He especially loved working with his lab, Roscoe.
He will be missed by his friends and family; his beloved wife Lucy of 22 years; daughters, Janet and Lisa; several grandchildren; brother Paul of Stow; sister Cynthia Mazza of Cleveland; numerous cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Russell Funeral Service, 15670 West High St. (Rt. 87) in Middlefield. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Troy Cemetery.
