1932 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Bernice H. (Pluto) Gallo, age 80, passed away suddenly Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at home.
Bernice was born July 25, 1932, in Cleveland.
She retired from National City Bank in 1994, and enjoyed her retirement by working for several more years at Dirt Devil part-time before retiring for good. She led an active life and often quipped ""I don't know how I ever had time to work full-time, I'm so busy now.""
Bernice enjoyed her vegetable garden, crocheting and card-making, playing on the bocce league and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors are her daughters, Veronica Gallo and Victoria (John) Hoenigman; grandchildren, Annalee and Elizabeth Hoenigman; sister, Frances Cognata; brother, John (Joan) Pluto; sisters-in-law, Tami Gallo and Rita Gallo; nephews, Vince (Lori) Gallo, Timothy, William (Denise), Adam (Julie) and Luke Cognata, Keith, Mark and Neil Pluto; nieces, Sherry (Pluto) Merganthaler, Debbie (Pluto) Mazzola, Dana Pluto and Linda (Gallo) Amicarelli; cousins, Mary Nicolosi and Dolly Abbott; special friends, Sadie Tackla, Barbara Dupree, Evelyn Peltz and Rochelle Shiffbauer; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna (Buzoga) Pluto; brother, Albert Pluto; sister, Margaret Pluto; brothers-in-law, Frank Gallo and Carl Cognata; sister-in-law, Loretta (Kovatch) Pluto; father-in-law, Vincent Gallo; and mother-in-law, Carmella (Gerace) Gallo.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at St. Paschal Baylon Church, 5384 Wilson Mills Road, Highland Heights, OH 44143. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the DiCicco and Sons Funeral Home, 5975 Mayfield Road (at Lander Road), Mayfield Heights.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bernice's memory to St. Joseph's Parish Improvement Fund in Cuyahoga Falls or have a Mass said for the repose of her soul at the church of your choice.
