Capt. Robert Timbrook Obituary

Capt. Robert D. Timbrook "Timmer," 67, passed away May 26, 2010, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn., with family by his side.
He was born in Painesville, Oct. 16, 1942, to Rose Mary Yanko and Robert N. Timbrook.
A 1960 graduate of Riverside High School, he attended the University of Kentucky in 1961, before being appointed by Congressman Robert E. Cook, 11th District of Ohio to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He was an Honor Guard for the funerals of General Douglas MacArthur and President John F. Kennedy. Graduating in 1965, he served in Fort Campbell, Germany, and Vietnam teaching parachuting. He retired in 1992, from Circuit City Stores, Inc. as Corporate Vice President.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond J. Timbrook, who was murdered in Kirtland Hills in 1992; mother, Rose Mary Timbrook-Mummey; and father, Robert N. Timbrook.
Survivors are his are son, Robert D. Timbrook Jr.; sister, R. Susan Freeze (Richard); stepmother, Helen Timbrook; nephew, Michael R. Freeze (Michelle), two great-nephews, Jacob M. and Mitchell K. Freeze; nephews who are Raymond's sons, Bryon J. Timbrook and Scott R. Timbrook; aunt, Mary Rose Kochever; and several cousins and friends.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. A memorial service will immediately follow the calling hours. The Rev. Troy Elam will preside. Interment and military service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
In lieu of flowers, it was his wish that donations be made to the "Ray of Hope Fund," c/o Fifth Third Bank, 6675 Center St., Mentor, OH 44060, which was established in memory of his brother, Raymond J. Timbrook. The fund was founded in 1997, and is a 501-C3 charity (not for profit, tax deductible) dedicated to helping surviving family members of homicide taking place in Lake, Geauga or Ashtabula Counties who are in need of financial assistance.

There is no greater honor than serving our country and honoring those that have served our country. Capt Timbrook did both. We appreciate his commitment to the missions of fallen fellow military. Thank you for your service Capt Timbrook; no matter how long ago it is not forgotten.
