Claire Miller passed away surrounded by her loving children Dec. 17, 2012.
The Guest Book is expired.
Claire was born Jan. 16, 1923, and grew up in Burbank, Calif.
During World War II, she worked at Lockheed Aircraft, where she met her husband, Bill. They moved to Ohio in 1948, and lived in Cleveland, and then Wickliffe for 30 years, where they lovingly raised a family of six children.
Bill and Claire moved to Florida in 1978, and Camarillo, Calif., in 1984.
A caring wife, mom, nana and great-grandmother, Claire was matriarch of a loving and extended family. Ahead of her time, in the 1960s, she earned a license in cosmetology and started her own beauty shop supported by dear friends. She enjoyed making people look and feel good.
In the 1970s, she obtained a real estate license and taught yoga classes. She liked to entertain and her pies were slices of heaven. Her lemon meringue won the blue ribbon at the Ventura County Fair.
Her extraordinary gift was never having a bad day. Her life was led by example. Her children learned that loving kindness to others and a positive attitude are truly the best things in life.
""Her beautiful smile will be missed and her greeting of, 'Hi, honey,' will live in our hearts forever.""
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; and daughter, Nancy.
She is survived by her children, Ronnie, Kami (Rod), Skip (Susan), Kurt (Seline), and Heidi; grandchildren, Scott, Brad (Anissa), Doug (Sandy), Chris (Brandy), Ryan (Kim), Eric, Kyle, Brianna, Alexandra, Raquel, Kurt, and Ian; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Brek, Jane, Clyde, Emiko, Ronnie, and Doug. She enjoyed a special love and bond with nieces, Joanie Malue, Stephanie Hanek, Jenny Miller; and nephews, Donnie Miller and Charles Malue; dear friends, Rose Leaf, Dot Mowrey; and surrogate sister, Bev Sivo.
A funeral service was held 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Forest Lawn in Glendale, Calif.
