Cosmo J. Arcaro Obituary
Mass of Christian Burial for Cosmo J. Arcaro, 74, will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State St., Painesville.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville.
The son of Domenico and Maria (Bertone) Arcaro was born April 18, 1938, in Santa Maria del Molise, Compobasso, Italy.
Mr. Arcaro, a Painesville resident, passed away Aug. 27, 2012, at his residence with his family at his side.
Cosmo graduated from the Lake Carriers Association and served in the U.S. Army. He was a ship pilot for 43 years on ore carriers for the U.S. Steel-Transta, retiring in 1999. He also was employed by the P.C. Dock in Conneaut, Inland Lakes, and Re-Education Services.
He was a kind and generous man, loved his family and friends, but his greatest loves where his grandsons. He enjoyed dancing and listening to polka music. A "jack of all trades," Cosmo enjoyed his vegetable garden and feeding animals. He was always willing to help everyone.
Survivors are his wife, Mary (Bertone) Arcaro, whom he married Dec. 28, 1968; daughters, Lisa (Heath) Kermode of Painesville, Margaret (Fred) Frisco of Chardon and Theresa Arcaro of Painesville; grandsons, Jacob and Joseph Kermode, Dominic and Rocco Frisco; brothers, Felix and Antonio (Elena) Arcaro of Canada; sisters-in-law, Michelina Arcaro and Carmela Arcaro of Canada, Carmelina Arcaro of Italy; brother-in-law, Anthony (Mary Jo) Bertone; sister-in-law Shirley and Patti Bertone; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael, Emilo, and Jacinto Arcaro; sister, Angolina (Antonio) Mucciarone; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Arcaro; and in-laws, Francesco and Nicoletta Bertone, Michael and Carmen Bertone.
Entombment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
