Dennis R. Ackerman Obituary
Funeral Mass for Dennis R. Ackerman, 64, of Willowick, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 460 E. 321 St., Willowick, OH 44095. Fr. Ron Wearsch will officiate the Mass.
Mr. Ackerman passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born April 24, 1949, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for most of his life, living in Willowick.
He was a very active member of St. Mary Magdalene Church, was a Lake Catholic Booster, and was very involved with the North High Class of 1967. Denny graduated from North High School in 1967 and attended Columbus College of Art and Design. His proudest moment was he designed a Nautica guitar for the United Way. He also was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his sons play sports.
Mr. Ackerman owned Ackerman Visual Advertising and Savoca Signs and Displays.
He was the beloved husband of 38 ½ years to Linda M. Ackerman; loving father of Jesse G. Ackerman and Patrick J. Ackerman; beloved son of Alice M. (nee Kushan) Ackerman; dear brother of Gary A. (Shelley) Ackerman, Pam A. Ackerman and Christine M. (Bill) Long; brother-in-law of Michelle L. "Micki" Ackerman, Jack (Barb) Zaharewicz and Nancy Zaharewicz; nephew of Goldie Kushan; uncle of Kristin, Kourtney, Mike, Jeffrey and Danny; and great-uncle of Colin, Joey, Khloe and Lucas. He also leaves his buddy Peanut.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jaimie C. Ackerman; father, Richard E. Ackerman; brothers, Thomas J. Ackerman and Gregory D. Ackerman; uncles, John Kushan and Robert Ackerman; and parents-in-law, Jack and Adele (nee McCloskey) Zaharewicz.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110, or St. Mary Magdalene Church.
