Ellen Resnik Sadler, 63, of Hartwell, Ga., passed away at her home on April 1, 2014 after a courageous 5½ months battle with cancer. At the end, she was surrounded by family and friends along with her specially-loved dogs – Ben and Callie.
Ellen was born in Cleveland on Feb. 1, 1951 to Frank and Lillian Resnik. She and her husband – Randy - came to Hartwell in 2001 from Atlanta.
Ellen was active locally in both Hart County as well as Anderson, South Carolina. In Hartwell, she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she belonged to the Bond of Love Sunday School class, taught other classes and sang in the Sanctuary Choir. She was also a member of the Hartwell Rotary Club serving as a board member, Secretary and – most recently – as their President for the 2013 year. In Anderson, Ellen was a great supporter of Hospice of the Upstate, serving two terms on that organization's board.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Randall E. Sadler and her parents. She is survived by a large extended family and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, at First Baptist Church with the Reverends Carter Tucker, Hugh Kirby and Steve Albanese officiating. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, South Carolina 29621 or to the Hart County Humane Society, P. O. Box 1062, Hartwell, Georgia 30643.
