1935 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
George A. DeBrody Obituary
Mass of Christian Burial for George A. DeBrody, 78, of Wickliffe, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 29840 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
Mr. DeBrody passed away Sept. 24, 2013, in Wickliffe.
Born April 21, 1935, in Orient, Pa., George was a resident of Wickliffe and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church since 1961. He was active as an usher, a lector and choir member. Previously residing in Cleveland, George worked as a machinist for Lincoln Electric. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, flying kites, fishing, bird watching and cooking. His favorite activities were playing Santa Claus and singing with his family. Many will remember him as a great cook (especially breakfast and Thanksgiving) who loved his family, gave generously, forgave others, enjoyed life, had a positive attitude and never had a bad word about anyone.
Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Marie (nee Sichko); daughter, Susann (J. Fred) Stergios; grandchildren, Leah Rose (fiancé Joel Duncan), Jason Stergios and Alexis Purses; and sister, Martha Mullen. He was also the dear brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle of many.
George was preceded in death by his son, David K.; parents, Joseph and Martha (nee Hambroski); brothers, Steve, John and Joseph; and sisters, Clara Murphy and Helen Stebok.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of George from 1 to 3 and 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Road and Route 91).
Family suggests contributions may be made in George's memory to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 29840 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe, OH 44092.
