1921 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
George A. Popovich, age 90, of Wickliffe, died March 21, 2012, at Kemper House in Mentor.
He was born April 13, 1921, in Beaverdale, Pa., and lived there before moving to Wickliffe 45 years ago.
George was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 0460 in Beaverdale and was a retired coal miner.
Survivors are his wife, Betty (nee Edwards); sons, Greg (Rosanne) Prokop and John (Cindy) Prokop; grandchildren, Kimberly Fedor, Daniel Prokop, John Prokop Jr., Candace Reed; six great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Jacobs; and brother, John Popovich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary; and siblings, Joseph Popovich, Mary Gadula, Virginia Crockett, Mitzi Roberts.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at St. Stephen Byzantine Church, 532 Lloyd Road, Euclid. Burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. A Parastas service will take place at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
