James "Judge" Burnett

1936 - 2011

James "Judge" Burnett, age 74, of Middlefield, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, in Chardon.
He was born Oct. 6, 1936, in Huntsburg, to the late Willard and Nina Burnett.
He was a 1955 graduate of Chardon High School. Jim will be long remembered for his unique talent of building replica buildings out of matchsticks, with some of the buildings using thousands of matchsticks. His favorite past times were golf, baseball, spending time with all sorts of people and being a member of the Gary Hein and The Country Boys Band. Jim was an avid fan of Hank Williams, he enjoyed time spent at Bill Gardner's Cabin, traveling, and simply enjoying the sights during his many outings.
Jim worked as a dispatcher for more than 28 years at Rimes Trucking, retiring in 1996.
He is survived by his children, Teri (Dave) Parsons of LaJoya Calif., Lisa (John) Daubenspeck of Euclid, Willard Burnett of Los Angeles, Calif., Thomas (Liz) Burnett of Madison and Patricia (Jeff) Morse of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; grandchildren, Christopher, Dani, Joshua, Rhiannon, Lee and Robert; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Mia; and siblings, Allen (Marilyn) Burnett, Ralph (Barbara) Burnett, Lloyd (Faye) Burnett and Evelyn (Kit) Luoma.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ada Sabo, Walter Burnett, Richard Burnett and Marian Perry.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon.
A funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Phil Pearson of Lake Erie Church of Perry will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at Maple Hill Cemetery in Munson Township.
