Jerry W. Burns, 64, of Perry, formerly of Dallas, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at home.

Born July 30, 1948, in Madison, W.Va., to Marie (Jarrell) and Harold Burns, he married Gretchen Vogel in Madison, W.Va., Feb. 1, 1969.
Mr. Burns worked for Diamond Shamrock/Occidental Chemical as a CPA for 43 years.
He was a 1966 graduate of Madison High School, received his B.A. from Lake Erie College and M.B.A. from Amber University. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic in Germany during the Vietnam War. Jerry enjoyed gardening, golfing and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Burns of Perry; son, David Burns of Plano, Texas; brother, Gary (Karen) Burns of Madison; sister, Linda (Terry) McCullough of Stow; mother-in-law, Dorothy Vogel of Madison; and brother-in-law, George (Polly) Vogel of Perry.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m.
