John L. Bohana, 71, of Wickliffe, passed away peacefully Feb. 28, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at Chardon Healthcare.
Born Aug. 22, 1942, the U.S. Army veteran and retired sergeant served over 35 years with the Wickliffe Police Department. Although John's passions for service and community involvement were unmistakable, his greatest pleasures were achieved through spending time and creating memories with friends and loved ones. Those closest to him cherished his devotion, work ethic and trademark jolly laugh.
His hobbies included golf, gardening, fishing, casino travels and indulging his sweet tooth.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Lucille (Brunetti) Bohana; children, Lisa (Michael) Murton, Carla (Basil) Casella and Tina (David) Abate; grandchildren, Giovanni, Gianna, Vince and Luke; siblings, Mary Suvada, Charles Bohana, Patrick (Dianne) Bohana and Luci (Jack) Gray; mother-in-law, Mary Brunetti; along with several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Loretta Bohana; and siblings, Michael Bohana and Rose O'Donnell.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Orlando-Donsante Funeral Home, 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Burial will be at Mentor Cemetery.
Donations in John's name may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
